The point of this piece was to create a self portrait, because I felt that it is a popular drawing exercise and great practice. For this reason I felt it would be challenging for me and I wanted to try. Looking to the future, self portraits are also a great way to show developing art styles and milestones throughout years of drawing. It will be interesting to compare and contrast later on.

For this drawing I also wanted to try drawing fabric, specifically the woven sweater I was wearing. I was also experimenting with hair textures, and whether I wanted the hair to be as realistic as the skin shading or more blocked in.
